Blonde wearing a dress on the beach being her true self

my greatest power = being my true self

The pandemic has helped me rediscover that being my true self = my greatest power. โšก

Besides the obvious because-it-feels-better, it’s also because things *work out even better than I could ever imagine* when I’m being myself.

Let’s ๐ŸŒฎ ’bout it. :):) Read More

free flowing ocean waves along shoreline

letting freedom ring & setting myself free

July 4th is a day I celebrate freedom and here’s my favorite Independence Day one-liner. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I see Celsius and raise you degrees of #FREEDOM!

This year, July 4th has a special meaning because I’ve decided to pursue forgiveness.

This all started because my coach called me out for not having done “the homework” as I talked about about my wins this week on our call this morning. I shared my wins with the coaching group but I was angry. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

It’s true.

I haven’t done “the work” because I just can’t be motivated to work on the computer when I’m chained to it for 40 hours a week. ๐Ÿ™ˆ

I realize what a cop out excuse this is as I’m typing this out now but I have my reasons for not wanting to do “the work”.

I think it’s because addressing this stuff hurts. Read More

now what?

Doing the Unthinkableย

Well, I did it โ€“

The perfect storm presented itself to me and I took my calculated leap of faith. That’s right, I walked away from my known hell to seek unknown heavens and I am proud of this. #micdrop ๐ŸŽค

I spent the first 24 hours re-living it with Darryl and the ones closest to me. At first, I was really angry and resentful but my coach gave me a way to frame all of this. She told me,

Everyone played a perfect role for you to get to this point. Forgive them. They helped you discover what your true gifts are and the faster you feel better, the faster the the crowd you’re meant to serve appears. โšก

She’s absolutely right.ย

Getting Clear

My vision gets a little clearer each day. I have about 80% of my grand vision hammered out and I think that’s plenty. As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. says,ย ย

Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. โœจ

I made room for even bigger blessings in my life and now, it’s time for me to go swim. ๐ŸŒˆ

The featured image in this post sang to me. She made the leap, now she must rely on her skills to navigate this vast open sea full of adventure and treasure.

Ok, so now what?

Darryl at Elton John's piano

a father’s day tribute to my startup dad

Funny story โ€“

Last weekend, I called Darryl up after I told him I was going to social distance from my phone for 48 hours. I asked him, “Can you not tell that I’ve failed miserably at staying away from my phone?” ๐Ÿ˜† He laughs and then tells me,

You didn’t fail, you just found another way to succeed. ๐Ÿ’ก

He’s right. ๐Ÿ’ฏ

I mean, I’ve been stuck in a rut for the longest time but I didn’t need the full 48 hours phone-free to break up my routine and rediscover the things that bring me joy. It always feels good when I honor people by telling them exactly how they made a difference in my life.

Without further ado, here we go!

I met Darryl about three years ago in 1871’s Kitchen 2.0. (1871 Chicago is the tech incubator we both work out of.) He randomly walked up to me and asked me if I had a doppleganger who taught calculus in the building. ๐Ÿคฃ It was there that I learned that he’s the Founder and CEO of mwseqโ„ข (pronounced *music*), a powerful online community that’s setting out to Harmonize the Worldโ„ข

The pic above was taken at the Legal Operators Virtual Happy Hour, where he edu-tained (get it? educate + entertain) the crowd with stories on technology, innovation, his love of music, and the driving force behind his company โ€“ all while playing a curated list of songs on Elton John’s piano at 2112 Chicago, the incubator for creatives downtown.
